One of my favorite parts of December is watching all my favorite holiday movies. Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life are two of my favorites, but I have to admit I’m glued to the Hallmark Channel’s 25 Days of Christmas. I know; the movies are sappy, unrealistic, sticky sweet, and totally romantic, and I love them. A cup of warm cocoa and a box of tissues are a must, however. So far this season, my top three Hallmark Channel movies have been, A Christmas With Molly, Come Dance With Me and A Princess for Christmas.

PJ – I love love love those Hallmark channel movies during the holidays. I’m glued while I wrap Xmas presents especially. And It’s a Wonderful Life. My aboslute favorite. I always cry when the telegram comes from Sam Wainwright authorizing that $25,000 to be made available. Holiday movies are the best.

Love, Love, Love sappy and/or funny holiday movies! My faves are It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street (the old version with Maureen O’Hara and Natalie Wood), National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (jello mold, anyone?), A Christmas Story, and just about anything on Hallmark or ABC Family. There was one on SyFy last weekend that I think ought to die a quiet death, though: The Twelve Disasters of Christmas. Dreadful stuff 🙂

My favorite Christmas story is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation…but my favorite christmas stories are The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry, which i read to my niecey-poo just last night, Dickens little holiday story and of course, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Mr. Moore.
I used to read “T’was the Night before Christmas” over and over as a child until I’d memorized and could recite it. I still remember all the words:-)
We just watched the old Miracle on 34th Street last night. Ahhh.Yes all of these favorites are unrealistic and sticky sweet, so is much of Christmas and I like it. Actually, it’s the unrealistic fantasy of it that draws me.Yes, I watch the Hallmark Christmas shows too. And isn’t some of this why romance novels are a hit? If we wanted realistic, we’d watch the news. # 1, It’s a Wonderful Life, but A Christmas Carol with Albert Finney is right up there. Great post!
I do love The Christmas Carol, Sandy. Hallmark did a fun remake called “It’s Christmas, Carol” The Scrooge theme with a sweet romance. The “ghost” was played by none other than Carrie Fisher. Of course it doesn’t touch the original, but it goes to show that Dickens never goes out of style.
I love holiday movies too, Sharon 🙂 My all time classic favorite is “Meet Me in Saint Louis”. It has everything for holiday joy – heartwarming family ties, romance, comedy and gorgeous singing from Judy Garland. My favorite modern movie is “Love, Actually”. Colin Firth alone makes it a stand out film. ❤
You’re so right, Sophia. Love Actually is a movie I can watch again and again! The cast was amazing!
Paula, what a fun post. I love those Hallmark sticky, sweet, not really real holiday movies. Great family stories. Haven’t seen one in a couple of days though, too busy writing and running around.

We watched Miracle on 34th Street on Thanksgiving. It’s not the Christmas season if we don’t see A Wonderful Life,The Grinch that Stole Christmas, and A Charlie Brown’s Christmas. I still get goose bumpily when Linus tells the real meaning of Christmas.
Hi Donna, I’ll admit that since my kids are grown, I don’t watch the animated specials anymore. I do miss the Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer…so cute!
I have to say I love catching up on movies during the holidays as I don’t seem to get any ‘me’ time with friends and family coming and going. I do have a few books I’d like to read but I may have to stay up late to do that. 🙂

NYC is always a fun place to visit at the holidays. This year might be tough since folks are still recovering from Sandy, but I bet they welcome the business. I’ve been to three movies in three weeks, LOL. Cant wait to see Les Miserables and The Hobbit!
